Peter's training began directly under O'Sensei Joe Puleio, the founder of the American Jiu Jitsu Federation, in 1990. After achieving the rank of Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) and his Instructor Certification in 1996, the rank of Nidan (2nd Degree) in 2004, he is currently training for the rank of Sandan (3rd Degree.) Peter also is also training with professional fighers such as Renzo Gracie.

Peter has brought his acclaimed self-defense instruction from Long Island to schools and businesses throughout the greater New York City area, heading self-defense seminars at educational institutions including Dowling College, New School, and New York University; law firms including Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP; non-profit organizations including New York Cares and government agencies.

In 2006, Peter started training at the Renzo Gracie Academy in NYC, earning his blue belt in 10 months. Ever since attaining his blue belt, he has been training diligently under the tutelage of Renzo Gracie and John Danaher, two of the foremost authorities in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Today, Peter is now a freelance personal trainer that teaches clients both aspects of Hakko Ryu Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to his many clients throughout New York City. Peter believes that both styles are equally important to the practicioner as it develops the mind and body as a unit while lifting one's confidence and inner peace while increasing cardiovascular fitness, toning muscles, and improving flexibility; while being challenged on a daily basis.
